Finger Foods That Everyone Will Love

A great party is full of good music, excellent entertainment and great tasting food. From sit down dinners to banquets and buffets, the food you serve at your next event will help to make it the best one yet.

Our inflatables add fun and excitement to parties, fairs and festivals throughout South Florida, but it’s the personal touches you add with your food that really brings the flavor.

Think beyond plain old burgers and pizza and add some sparkle to your holiday finger food this holiday season.  Stuck for inspiration? Try these ideas for size:

Pastry Pigs with Cheese and Cider Dipping Sauce

For a modern twist on pigs in blankets, try wrapping cocktail franks in pretzel dough and baking in the oven, before mixing up a simple white sauce with tangy cheddar and sharp cider for a delicious contrast of flavors.

Egg Buffet Bites

Boiled eggs are a great base for easy canapés and finger foods.  For the festive season, go for a different take on the classic deviled egg recipe, and add flavorful toppings instead of mayonnaise.  Try salmon and dill leaves, or bacon and green onion for an easy, tasty, festive feast.

Bruschetta

Super easy to make, and just as easy to devour, Bruschetta is a classic Italian finger food that works well all year round. The key to a great bruschetta is the wonderful combination of flavors.  Rub garlic on the bread itself, before topping with the freshest, juiciest tomatoes, basil and olive oil.  Grill before serving for a simple, tasty snack that makes a welcome change from stodgy pizza.

Ham and Cheese Sliders

An easy alternative to burgers, these sliders are perfect for kids and adults and are easy to eat with a drink in one hand, and a plate in the other.  Make tiny layered sandwiches using freshly baked bread or brioche and fill them with layers of good quality cheese and delicately flavored ham. Grill for just a few moments to make the bread soft, and the cheese gooey.

Turkey and Cranberry Sliders

Just like above, these sliders are easy to eat and simple to make.  Use good quality cold cuts, or cook your bird from fresh, and layer a good size dollop of cranberry sauce on fresh white bread or brioche to make delicious, mini festive sandwich bites.

Savory Christmas Trees

Using salami and cheese layered between store brought puff pastry, simply fold the strips of dough accordion style and place on a skewer.  Bake in the oven for 15 minutes or so and add a green olive to top off your tree.

Whiskey Meatballs

Meatballs on cocktail sticks make the most awesome finger foods.  Go for a more grown-up variation on the theme by letting the meatballs simmer in sugar, ketchup, lemon juice and bourbon whiskey to make them melt-in-the-mouth delicious.  Place them on a cocktail stick and serve hot.

Pastries, pretzels, sandwiches, salads, crackers, cookies, cakes and candies are also great ways to stave off hunger as you and your guests enjoy a holiday party this Christmas.

Inflatable Fun For Every Occasion

If you are organizing a celebration or event, why not go the extra mile and add some inflatable fun into the mix from kids’ parties to street parties and everything in between, inflatables bring plenty of extra bouncy fun that everyone can enjoy.

  1. Kids Party

Kids just love to bounce.  One of the best things about bounce houses is that they can keep the kids entertained for hours on end. Children are full of energy, and they literally won’t stop bouncing until they are exhausted. There are hundreds of different types of inflatables to choose from, so you will be sure to find one that suits the size of your venue and your budget.

Inflatable hire for kids’ parties in Florida is also super easy.  Simply choose the one you want, and the guys from South Florida Bounce will bring it to you, set it up and have it ready to bounce on in no time at all.

  1. Fall Festival

This time of year is perfect for celebrating the fall with a neighborhood gathering or festival.  When you are done with apple bobbing or pumpkin carving, why not let the kids (and even the adults too) have a bounce to burn off some energy.  The great thing about inflatables is that they offer a great way to keep active, so if you are getting the whole neighborhood involved, why not hire an inflatable assault course or another action-packed combo unit to encourage a little sportsmanship while you bounce.

  1. Family Reunion

With Thanksgiving and Christmas well on their way, now is the perfect time to start organizing a family reunion.  Great food, lots of laughter and a little bit of bouncing will help to create memories that will last for many years to come.  Hire a combination of inflatables that suit guests of all ages.  From toddler bounce house for the little ones to action-packed thrill rides for teenagers and adults.  You can keep everyone amused for hours on end, while you catch up with old friends and family.

  1. Teen Party

This age group is notoriously difficult to entertain, but if you are planning on having all the family over to celebrate a teenagers birthday, you can still hire inflatables that they won’t find “uncool”.  Giant inflatable disco domes, for example, come with their very own sound and lighting systems, with sound activated lights that hook up to your phone, tablet or memory stick.  Dancing and bouncing around is super great fun, even if you think you are too old for it.

  1. Charity Events and Fundraisers

If you are raising money for a local charity, team or group, why not hold a family fun day and get the community involved.  Inflatables are particularly popular with people who like to play sports, and if your team is fundraising why not hire an inflatable 9 hole mini golf, human football or even a rock climbing wall to keep that sporting theme flowing.

Staycation or Vacation?

Honestly, you need a break! After all that hard work and making that money, you deserve a break. The first and most natural thought when you want to take a break is a vacation to a land far away from your ordinary life. A city that is at least an hour or more’s drive or flight away. However, did you ever consider that taking a staycation would do you better than a vacation? We have compiled some benefits of having a staycation over a vacation, and let you make the decision for yourself.

  1. No packing!

The worst part about getting ready for a vacation is packing everything you need into a decent sized piece of luggage. This includes fitting your shampoos and shower gels into airport appropriate containers. So much stress getting ready to distress, don’t you think? A staycation will not need you to pack anything away since you will be staying put!

  1. A chance to explore your town

So, you have lived and worked in your town for a good number of years, but have you ever really explored all the nooks and crannies of your town? If you are a foodie, a staycation is the perfect opportunity to explore all the restaurants that you have never had time to visit thanks to your tight work schedule. How about all those picnic spots, amusement parks for the kids and basically just enjoying your town without thinking about work?

  1. Save that money

Vacationing included expenses such as flights, hotel boarding and lodging, taxi fares for a new town, car hire fees and just so much spending! When you staycation, you get to stay in your house and eliminate the need to pay for flights or any hotel costs. Furthermore, your food and drinks costs will be lower since you can choose to eat in some nights.

  1. Avoid travel stress

Travelling comes with its fair share of stress. From planning for air tickets, paying for hotel rooms, rushing around in a foreign airport searching for your boarding gate, to lugging around heavy bags and the incidence of lost bags; all these are aspects that you avoid when you staycation. Why stress out in your quest to de-stress?

  1. No need for prior planning

When need to take a vacation, you need to make lots of prior planning to make the most of your vacation days. You cannot afford to leave the days empty and hope for a spontaneous day of fun. However, when you staycation, the need for planning is thrown out the window. You can decide to go out to dinner 10 minutes before dinner. The beauty of spontaneity is best captured on a staycation.

  1. You can include your pet

This should be the number one reason why staycationing beats vacationing any day. Forget about planning for a pet-sitter and then spending your entire vacation worrying about your treasured pet. Skip the travel and enjoy some time at home with that fantastic animal companion of yours.

If these reasons why you should staycation do not work for you, then you probably need just one more vacation before your first staycation.

Keeping Safe In The Summer Heat

During summer, you want to make the most of the summer sun before the chilly fall weather sets in. Summer always seems to rush by, and the colder months drag along. Understandably, this would make you want to stay out longer in the sun, getting that tan in as much as you can before you have to pack the shorts away.

As you enjoy time in the sun, be sure to stay safe in the heat of summer. It is likely that one can get sunstroke, heat stroke or even a nasty sunburn if you do not take the following precautions.

  1. Take lots of fluids

During summer, you are bound to lose more water through perspiration than in the colder months. It is wise to keep a cold drink close by and sip from it often; do not wait until you are thirsty to drink. Furthermore, avoid alcoholic and sugary drinks because they can actually dehydrate you! The best drink to reach for is a cool bottle or glass of water. However, you should avoid very cold drinks as these are known to cause stomach cramps.

  1. Stay indoors

What? Stay indoors during summer? Well, when the temperatures are really high, especially in the early afternoons, you should stay away from the direct sun. By staying indoors, you can choose to take your outdoor fun indoors to a mall for some shopping or a movie theatre to catch the latest blockbuster. A few hours in an air-conditioned area will help your body to stay cooler once you get back outside under the sun.

  1. Your dressing

During summer, choose light-weight, airy fabrics to keep your skin free from any build-up of sweat. Furthermore, you should wear clothes that are loose-fitting and have light colors, not dark colors. It is a widely proven fact that dark colors absorb heat while light colors deflect it away from you. Additionally, you should put on a wide-brimmed hat to protect your head, face, neck, and shoulders from the sun’s glare. Don’t forget to put on some sunscreen with a high UV filter to protect your skin.

  1. Children and pets

Keep children and pets in shady areas away from the direct glare of the sun. Ensure that you apply child-sensitive sun-screen on your children before you step out with them. Furthermore, ensure that they are well hydrated by keeping them on fluids continually. Do not, under any circumstances, leave children or pets in a locked car even for a few minutes, this is very dangerous.

If you observe these tips, you are sure to enjoy your summer without rushing to the ER this year. Another great way to keep safe in the summer heat is renting any one of our waterslides which come with a shaded area to protect you from the sun as you keep cool in the water. We have a wide variety of waterslides that can fit in your backyard for some cooling summer fun. Contact us today and we will be sure to provide you with what you need this summer.

Summer Movies For The Kids

Summer is upon us, school’s out and the kids are home. This is a pretty exciting time for them after months in school. The sunny weather comes with loads of outdoor activities, as well as indoor activities such as watching movies. Movies will give you a break from having to think up fun and exciting things to do all day, plus you can also jump in on the fun.

Below is a list of kids’ movies to watch out for during this summer break, in no particular order of preference. No spoilers here!

  1. Sherlock Gnomes

This animated comedy brings back the legendary detective Sherlock Gnomes. Two garden gnomes aptly named Gnomeo and Juliet hire the services of this legendary detective to look into the strange disappearance of their friends. Sit back and stock up on the popcorn as this is one rollercoaster of laughter you will be riding from the beginning to the end.

  1. The Incredibles 2

The first Incredibles movie premiered way back in 2004, probably way before any of your kids were born. Regardless, this first movie was such a hit that you can be sure your kids will love it. It would be great to have them watch the first movie at home, and then take them to the theatres to watch the largely-acclaimed sequel in theatres this June.

  1. Ant-Man and The Wasp

Marvel Studios never disappoints, and that is the same expectation you ought to carry into the theatres this July when this movie begins showing. The story-line focuses on a super-hero trying to maintain the work-life balance as he raises his daughter and battles a new threat. It already sounds like a perfect way to spend an afternoon in July.

  1. Hotel Transylvania 3: summer vacation

This sequel of the Hotel Transylvania 2 spins off with Count Dracula taking a cruise with his kooky bunch of supernatural friends. As expected, there will be loads of laughs as this eccentric gang gets into all types of situations like when Skeleton loses it at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Meanwhile, Count Dracula channels his affection to a most unusual subject. Expect to enjoy great laughs and thrills; as you while your afternoon away with the kids this July.

  1. Eighth Grade

A welcome change from the animation overload is this thought-provoking movie. The focus of the storyline is on a wall-flower type of girl in 8th grade trying to navigate life despite the many challenges that come with her age. And as if that’s not challenging enough, she is also trying to record the perfect YouTube video. How will that end? That’s stuff that you can only find in the movies this July.

Conclusion

From the expected overdose of animated films to adventure and comedy films, this summer is promising a jam-packed movie session for the kids. Our list barely scratches the surface, but it gives you a picture of what to expect as you break out the popcorn and indulge your summer afternoons and evenings. Happy viewing!

Video Game Addiction

Is there that one level of development that is getting in your child’s way of life? Many parents struggle with the addiction of their children to video games. While video games were considered a significant aspect of personal development as well as an activity for passing time, they have become completely addictive. So, how do you establish the line between video games as fun or as a problem?

Usually, video games were an activity that children undertook in dingy basements, or in bombastic arcades and family vacation car. Parents nowadays cannot escape their far-reaching grasps –they are available online, in tablets, phones, and computers. While smartphones have made it convenient to access video games, they are also to blame for opening a platform where video games come with the bad.

Video games are addictive

Children no longer want to go outside to play. Video games are gradually cutting off their social lives. The majority of them prefer staying indoors to play the games as opposed to playing outside. If you are noticing a trend where your children are into playing video games more than doing their chores or reading, it is highly likely that you are witnessing a sobering possibility of video game addiction.

How to get the kids outside

There is no denying that kids nowadays want to spend every second playing video games. While video games may not be necessarily having a negative impact on your child, a new study on the impacts of video games on children’s behavior revealed that with moderation, video games are actually good.

How then do you get the kids away from their video games?

  • Have occasional outside play dates

Children are fond of places where they get to engage in their favorite activities. An outdoor play date could just fit the part. Make sure that your kids get to meet their friends, perhaps in a lake, creek, or even a park. South Florida Bounce has all that you need for such a play date –bounce house, tents, chairs, and other services.

  • Provide other play items

Tablets, phones, and computers are not the only child’s play gadget you can get. If you wish to get your children outside to play, ensure that you have other items of play with such as buckets, sidewalk chalk, and balls. Such toys will give them a motivation to play outside.

  • Limit their video game involvement

Kids can play video games the whole day. As such, it is important for parents to have a schedule for their kids’ amount of time on screens. Ensure that they spend less time on the games and encourage them to engage in other activities.

  • Increase the child’s level of independence while outside

It always gets fun for the kids when they exercise their independence while outdoors. In most of the cases, children would wish to play more outside the house if they notice that they can achieve the independence they want. However, make sure that you keep them under watch.

Video game addiction is a real problem and it is the role of the parents to ensure that the kids get involved outside the house. Providing alternatives to playing video games is a significant way to succeed in getting kids to play outside.

Sunscreen Do’s And Dont’s

It is that time of the year again –the dog days of summer– and everyone is planning on going for a summer vacation in the parks and beaches to enjoy soaking up in the rays of the sun. But then, have you thought about developing an aging skin, or skin cancer? To reduce the possibility of developing any of these, it is always recommendable to apply sunscreen appropriately. This sounds like a theory to most people, and probably there is a lack of understanding of how to apply sunscreen judging from the increase in the incidences of skin cancer reported nowadays.

So what are the DOs as you plan to lather up in sunscreen this summer?

  1. Understand the components

Sunscreens have different components. Your ideal sunscreen should have components with the power to block UVA, and have the ability of remain on your body’s surface as opposed to getting absorbed. Components such as Mexoryl SX, avenobenzone, titanium dioxide and zinc are great UVA blockers.

  1. Apply sunscreen earlier before going in the sun

Usually, it is recommendable to apply sunscreen about 30 minutes before going outside. Such a time gives the sunscreen enough time length to protect you from the UV rays. Some mineral sunscreens such as those containing zinc oxide start protecting your body against UV rays shortly after applying them.

  1. Apply enough sunscreen

Irrespective of the type of sunscreen one is using, it cannot work effectively if applied sparingly. Your body alone will need about two ounces of fluid. However, it should be noted that over time the functionality of the sunscreen decreases hence, requires reapplication after about 2 hours of being in the sun.

And what should you avoid?

  1. Avoid sunscreen sprays

These sprays are convenient. However, the challenge is that it is easy to apply too little or miss a few areas. In addition, it is easy to inhale the sprays. This should not happen given that some have toxic substances.

  1. Avoid using your makeup as sunscreen

Theoretically, makeup is considered ideal for preventing UV rays. However, most people fail to wear makeup that is considered enough or even fail to reapply as often to enhance the efficiency of the SPF. It is recommended to wear sunscreen on top of your makeup for better results.

  1. Avoid sunscreens with higher SPF

It is easy to be fooled by a high percentage of SPF in the sunscreens. A report by FDA has indicated that such products are not suitable in offering the required protection against UV rays. Moreover, they make one overconfident leading to the failure to reapply. It is recommendable to use products that have SPF of between 15 and 30+.

Evidently, there is a lot to know before applying sunscreen. The choice of the ideal product is an important aspect that should be on the top of your to-do list. As you do it, choose a product with components that will guarantee you much protection. As you plan your summer holiday, perhaps you could consider hiring the services of South Florida Bounce for a variety of products such as tents, waterslides, bounce houses, etc.

Kid’s Party Themes for 2018

Party Decoration Ideas for Your Child’s Birthday

Last season we caught the party decoration trends and found characters like the Minions and inside tent sleepovers to sweep Coconut Creek area like wildfire. This year there’s been a change in the décor, but it’s just as cute as last year’s party ideas for child birthdays. If you’ve been struggling with a theme, we found it here and just in time for 2018!

Idea One: Rainbows seem to be popping up everywhere in the kid party section. Rather than pastels for the girls and bold primary colors for the boys, the rainbow party is appropriate for any gender. While we found this theme to entail a plethora of different ways to display this color scheme, we can tell you it’s a fun and inviting look no matter what festival or celebration. From party streamers to balloons you can give the appearance of an exciting event even if you’re on a budget. Don’t forget to include the favorite My Little Pony for the toddler ages or Olympics for the older children. There are endless possibilities with these color schematics where just about anything goes! While just about any of our inflatables will work for this theme, we do recommend the Candy Land attraction to be an excellent fit for the youngsters!

Idea Two: Panda Bears Are Everywhere! Scour the internet, and you’ll find just about every mommy blogger writing about Panda Bear Parties. Just about every party favor you can think of includes a cute panda bear on it, and the kids seem to love the idea! If you’re looking for a little fun with some photo opportunities, try face painting the kids to look like pandas and rent our photo booth to take some super cute pics! They’ll love the use of the photobooths and so will you as you’re not snapping thousands of images with your cell phone while managing the rest of the party!

Idea Three: Unicorns seem to be a trendy topic all around these days. The mystical horse with the horn on the head that can fly has been enchanting us for years. But, for 2018 this is a craze is getting a lot of attention. For young girls, unicorns make an excellent birthday décor. There are tons of creative ideas for everything from games to prizes. For instance, ring toss using a simple cone can be loads of fun, and almost any age loves the activity. No matter what you end up with the unicorn party theme is a hot one for 2018 where you can’t go wrong.

We hope these ideas add a little spark to your party planning or in this case some sparkle. Nonetheless, we’re here if you need any assistance with your child’s special day.
