Dunk Tanks are a Crowd Favorite!

Go to any fair, carnival or water park and there’s sure to be a long line of people waiting for their chance to dunk the target in a dunk tank. They’re fun when participants don’t know the person being dunked, but it adds an elevated level of amusement and pleasure when the person in the dunk tank is someone they know.

That’s especially true no matter what age group is playing. It’s just one of the reasons that the rental of portable dunk tanks is one of the most popular activities for any type of outdoor event. It’s classic entertainment that has withstood the test of time and is always a guaranteed crowd pleaser for creating magic at events ranging from home parties to fundraisers.

Individuals can rent a portable dunk tank for home parties, along with school and business events. However, the use of a dunk tank is especially popular as a fundraising activity. The tanks require little room to set up, hold 500 gallons of water, and are particularly popular with non-profit organizations as they tend to be quite profitable.

One of the advantages of a dunk tank is that it’s a family-friendly game that people of all ages can play. The average person can’t resist showing off their throwing skills as they strive to hit the bullseye that results in someone getting a dunking. A portable dunk tank is fun and will have people coming back time after time to try their luck.

Shade is a Must for Your Outdoor Summer Event

Summer is a time for a wide range of gatherings ranging from birthday parties to family reunions. It’s the season for sharing fun with friends and families and shade is an essential element for your events during the hot, humid and rainy weather in South Florida.

Everyone needs a way to get out of the hot summer sun and cool off. That’s especially true for young children and the elderly. It takes very little time for someone to succumb to heat exhaustion, even when they’re staying hydrated. Many people don’t even realize they’re experiencing the symptoms of a life-threatening condition until it’s too late.

A canopy or tent is the ideal solution for your outdoor event. Even if you have large shade trees, it may not be sufficient. Canopies and tents prevent the sun from beating down on guests and they provide protection should a rainstorm develop. There are even air conditioning options made specifically for tents.

A canopy is a good choice, especially if it can be erected under the shade of a tree for added protection. However, the problem with canopies is that they provide overhead shade only. As the sun moves across the sky, it can begin to shine in from the ends or sides. If it starts to rain, guests will get wet from precipitation blowing in on the sides.

A tent with roll-down sides provides the most effective and all-around best solution for shade. The sides can be left up to let a cooling breeze in or the flaps can be deployed if it rains and guests will stay completely dry. A tent can also be air conditioned for an elevated level of comfort.

No matter what option you choose, shade is imperative for your outdoor summer event. No one likes getting hot and sticky at a social gathering. Canopies and tents are an affordable solution that will keep guests cool, comfortable and ensure they have a good time.

Tips for Planning a Great Outdoor Event

Planning any type of event can be a frustrating and nerve-wracking experience without a definite plan in place. Individuals have many more options for an outdoor event than one that’s held inside and in South Florida there are problems unique to the environment. The following tips will aid in creating a great outdoor event.

Permits

Each municipality is different and has its own ordinances, laws, and requirements. There may be restrictions about the number of people that can attend. If the event is held in a public park, permits may be required and the space may need to be reserved in advance. Permits, scheduling, and location will all impact the event.

Budget

It’s essential that individuals know the budget they have to work with as it will affect everything from the cuisine that’s served to the entertainment. Organizers may have to make decisions on where they want to focus their money – food or entertainment – and make appropriate adjustments.

Logistics

It’s a good idea to take a photo of the area where the event will be held. It will help in planning where vendors, entertainments, and seating will be placed. Don’t forget that concessionaires, amusements, games, and sound equipment will require power sources.

Comfort

A benchmark of a good host is seeing to the comfort of guests. That means ensuring that attendees have ample seating to rest and relax. That can also necessitate arranging for tents and awnings to provide shade, or an air-conditioned space for the very young or the elderly to escape the heat and humidity. Tents with roll-down sides are essential in the event of rain.

Sanitation and Pest Control

Cleanliness and pest control go hand-in-hand. An adequate supply of trash receptacles will aid in minimizing the potential for pests. Hiring a professional to treat the area where the event will take place is an excellent idea. Have sufficient helpers to assist in clean up details when the event comes to a close.

Safety

For evening events, adequate lighting is critical to avoid accidents and injuries. It will also help attendees locate amenities quickly and efficiently. Keep a well-stocked first aid kit available at all times.

Entertainment for your Bar or Bat Mitzvah

A bar or bat mitzvah ceremony is a serious and important time in a young person’s life. Traditionally, a party and merry-making is held after official ceremonies to celebrate the new status of the participant. The event has been commemorated in a wide variety of ways and you have the option of entertainments ranging from activities of a water park to those of a carnival setting for an unforgettable experience.

Making Memories

One of the first things that you’ll want to do is arrange for a photo booth. It’s an excellent way for everyone to have their own special souvenir of the day and create memories that will be cherished for years to come. You also have the option of social media booths so guests can share their experiences on their favorite platform. Don’t forget to include glitter artists to add sparkle for the selfies that are sure to be taken.

Party Games

You can create a kaleidoscope landscape of entertainments with games that include skee-ball, wack-a-mole and Velcro axe throw. Party-goers can enjoy mini-golf and lawn size versions of games that include Connect Four and Soccer Darts. You can offer Bungee Trampoline, mechanical bull rides, wet or dry water slides, and machines where guests can try surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding.

Themed Parties

A themed celebration can take many forms. You can conduct a casino event with all the trimmings, complete with a hypnotist, comedian, acrobats, or singer as the “casino entertainment.” Create a retro event with video games and décor. For a futuristic or tech theme, consider LED performers.

Street Performers

There are hundreds of extremely talented street performers that work out of professional entertainment companies. They encompass mimes and jugglers, stilt walkers and even fire dancers in costume. One extremely popular option is hiring unique performers that imitate mannequins. They represent living art and when they do eventually move, fun always ensues.

Music

Everyone enjoys music and a live band or DJ can liven up any celebration. Alternately, you might want to consider a karaoke machine. Few people can resist the impulse to sing and you can even stage an impromptu karaoke battle. Whether you engage the services of a DJ, band or karaoke option, be sure there’s enough room to dance.

Food

Strictly speaking, food isn’t entertainment, but it’s an essential part of the festivities. There are caterers, restaurants and food trucks that specialize in kosher cuisine encompassing ice cream, pizza and tacos, along with vegan fare and dishes from around the globe.

A Tent Rental Can Save your Outdoor Party

Holding an outdoor party is an inexpensive way to gather together with family and friends and an excellent way to expand the guest list if desired. As a host, you try to plan for every contingency, but the one thing you can’t control is Mother Nature. The weather in South Florida has a way of changing quickly from scorching hot to drippy wet.

A tent rental can save an outdoor party from a weather disaster. Each tent will be able to accommodate a maximum number of individuals. Just be sure that you rent a tent that’s large enough to shelter everyone, or multiple tents if the guest list is large to prevent a feeling of claustrophobia.

Sun

A warm day is ideal for a party, but the hot sun beating down relentlessly is detrimental to the very young, the elderly, and those with chronic medical conditions. It’s really not fun for anyone else, either. A tent provides much needed shade to aid in preventing sunburn and sunstroke.

Heat

Even if the sun isn’t beating down on attendees, the type of extreme heat, combined with humidity, can result in a variety of illnesses. In hot, humid weather the body often has difficulty cooling itself despite frequent hydration. Statistics from the CDC show that 700 people die each year from heat-related conditions.

Higher temperatures also result in elevated ozone levels and that directly affects air quality and the ability to breathe. Additionally, the sun’s UV rays easily penetrate even dense cloud cover to cause a nasty sunburn.

Rain

A rainstorm can arrive quickly and with little warning. Renting a tent provides guests with a ready-made shelter from unexpected precipitation and the wind that often accompanies a storm. Be sure to obtain a tent that has sides that can be unfurled. Those sides will prevent rain from blowing into the tent and getting guests wet. When the storm abates, the sides can be rolled back up to let any breeze to blow through.

End the Virtual School Year with an Outdoor Event

outdoor event

For many youngsters, their school year was a virtual one – at least in part – while others never made it into the classroom at all. Now is a great time to get the gang together to end the school year with an outdoor event. It will enable kids to visit with their friends and get some much-needed exercise. Outdoor events are also safer in terms of the pandemic.

Outdoor events can be held at home, in a park, or an outdoor venue can be booked. The location will have an impact on the type of refreshments served to the amusements and decorations that are planned. Conversely, there are many events that really don’t need decorations – just people sharing good times.

There are dozens of ideas for celebrating, whether it’s an event held during the day or in the evening. Commemorate the event with a T-shirt or other keepsake that can be imprinted with a novel message.

Water Party

This is a great idea for at-home events. Give everyone a squirt gun or large supply of water balloons and let the fun begin. For those that have the available space, consider renting a water slide.

Ice Cream Bar

Nothing says summer like ice cream and it’s an ideal way to kick off the end of the virtual school year. Play music appropriate to the event and offer attendees a rainbow of ice cream flavors, along with their favorite toppings.

Scavenger Hunt

Hide summer-related items around the yard appropriate for the kids’ age. Let them search for items such as sunglasses, small bottles of sunscreen, bubbles and sidewalk chalk, miniature inflatable beach balls, beach toys and paddle balls.

Be Inventive

Parents can throw a tailgate party or backyard BBQ, hold a movie night, a pool party, or camp out in the backyard. Inflatables are available ranging from games and mazes to bounce houses, along with bubble machines and foam/snow machines to create a winterscape. The important thing is to just have fun and celebrate the end of a virtual school year that’s kept everyone cooped up indoors.

Popular Party Themes for Kids

A kid’s interest can seem to change from day-to-day and a themed party that brings elements of their favorite things to life is a surprise that any youngster loves. The following are some of the most popular themes for kids age 5-8. Parents can use their own judgement should their child have different interests.

A memorable and fun party doesn’t have to cost a fortune. There are dozens of dollar stores that have everything from disposable plates and balloons to banners and other types of decorations. It’s easy on the budget and even enables parents to send home a goody bag with the kids.

Amusement Park

There’s a wealth of age-appropriate inflatable amusements available to keep kids busy ranging from water slides to bounce houses, many of which feature themes ranging from fairy tales to race cars. Carnival type games encompass life-size board games and mazes to skee ball. In keeping with the amusement park theme, parents can rent cotton candy, popcorn, snow cone, and hot dog machines.

Let It Snow

The cold, white precipitation is a rarity in Florida and snow machines can be rented to transform a yard into a temporary winter wonderland. Add snowflakes, snowmen and similar decorations to round out the theme.

Bubble Blowout

Kids of all ages love bubbles and in addition to bottles so they can blow their own, consider renting a bubble machine. The kids can run through them and play make-believe to their heart’s content. Instead of a large birthday cake, think about cupcakes that are easier for little hands to handle.

Superheroes

Have the kids attend in their favorite superhero costume. There’s no shortage of superhero decorations, cake toppers, and craft ideas that kids can make at the party.

Glow-in-the-Dark

This is ideal for a late evening party. Kids are fascinated by anything that glows in the dark. Set the tone with glow-in-the-dark jewelry, glowsticks, swords and hanging decorations. Parents can purchase napkins, tablecloths and goody bags that glow in the dark, and there are even edible lollipops that glow.

Delicious Mocktails to Serve at your Event

mocktails

Mocktails are a delicious way to cool down in the summer and a welcome addition to any party. Full of flavor, but without the alcohol, they’re great for guests that don’t drink and provide a refreshing interlude for any occasion.

Sparkling Magic Apple

The ingredients are simple. You’ll need 2 oz. of a whiskey alternative, 2 oz. of apple cider or apple juice, 2 dashes of bitters, a cinnamon stick and an apple slice.

Combine the first three ingredients in a tall glass with ice and stir until cold. Pour the mixture over fresh ice and garnish with the cinnamon stick and apple for a tasty treat.

Ginger Shirley Temple

For a fresh take on an old favorite, try this. Take 4 cups of lemon-lime ginger beer, 1 cup of club soda, 3 tablespoons of lime juice and .25 cup grenadine.

Stir together the ginger beer, lime juice, club soda and grenadine in a pitcher. You can garnish with maraschino cherries or lime rounds for an attractive thirst-quencher.

Blueberry Cooler

This takes full advantage of fresh blueberries with their antioxidant qualities. It will require a little extra work on your part, but the results are well worth the time. You’ll need 1 cup of blueberries, 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, and 1 lemon – juiced.

Place the sugar, water and blueberries in a large saucepan and bring them to a boil, then simmer on low heat for 15 minutes to create your blueberry syrup. Strain out the solids using a fine strainer or sieve. Fill a glass to the top with crushed ice. Pour 1 ounce of the blueberry syrup in the glass, then 1 ounce of lemon juice in the glass. Be careful not to mix the two ingredients so you get a layered look. Fill the glass slowly with water to the top. Even if you mix the two, it will still be a delicious beverage.
