Team Building Relay Races for Your Next Event

Have a Team Building Relay Race  for your Next Event – From South Florida Bounce Party and Bounce House Rentals

Try organizing these types of activity for family reunions, charity events and school events.

Relay races are not only a great way to perform athletic activity, they’re great for team building skills, team spirit and agility testing. Here are a few ideas taken from various resources for you can incorporate in your next event.  Don’t forget to include an obstacle course as part of your racing.

First break down your teams.  Appoint a captain who is committed to motivate the team when the going gets tough. If you have the budget and want to provide shirts made, then contact a T-shirt making place ahead of time.  Places like VistaPrint.com can be cost efficient when purchasing shirts in bulk. If you are a last minute planner, then check places like Walmart and Target and buy plain colored shirts for you to identify teams.

Next explain the rules of the race.  This is important so everyone can understand what things they can become disqualified for and what they need to do to win.

Dribbling Relay:  Four to five teams having the equal number of players line up behind a starting like. In front of each team, about 10 to 15 meters away a turning point is marked, and on the way one or more objects are placed on the ground. The front most players of each team will be in possession of a basketball. At the signal ‘Go’, the number of one player of each team starts to dribble the ball with one hand around the objects, which should be placed in front of him. He encircles the first object with his left side towards it, and dribbles to the next, around which he goes with his right side towards it. He then dribbles the ball straight back to the starting line. Here he hands the ball over to the next player and stands at the back of his team. All players go forward and come back in turn. The team completing this first is the winner and the other teams are given places according to the order of finishing. Found on WiseBlog.com

Balloon Pop: Inflate enough balloons for each player. Have your team members lined up in rows and place an empty chair opposite each row a good distance away. Give each player an inflated balloon. Team members race one at a time to the chair, sit on their balloon and pop it. The first team to pop all their balloons wins. Found on Icebreakerideas.com

The Three-Legged Race: One person ties his left leg with another person’s right leg. They work together to run or walk (or stumble??) to their goal and back. Strap the legs together at the ankle or calf with a strip of fabric, bandana or stretchy nylon.

Pass the Doughnut:  Team members pass a doughnut from the first person in line to the last person in line using only the straws (or sticks) in his/her mouth. Found on family-reunion-success.com

Beach Balls Crazy: In this race you’ll need inflatable doughnuts, flippers for all sizes, water wings, and pool noodles. Each participant wears a set of wings, places the doughnut around their waist and the flippers on their feet.  A swimming pool noodle is placed at the front of the line (one per line).  The teams line up one at a time they wear the beach gear and race to the other side grabbing the noodle and running it back.  Whichever team makes it to the end with all players having a turn is the winner. This is great fun and can be done at school events as well as birthday parties.  This idea was found on oswegocountytoday.com

These ideas are just a few, but these are some really good ones. If you’ve decided to incorporate an inflatable obstacle course like the one with Orb Balls or Wipe out, you can make this a station and have several other races going at the same time.

These types of activities are loads of fun, they’re enjoyed by both kids and adults because they’re entertaining.  The best part of having a relay race event is having it outdoors where fresh air meets good times.

8 Bounce House Safety Rules Made Simple

The crew at South Florida Bounce is all for creating memorable moments at your party.  However SAFETY FIRST.  So our team in South Florida wanted to give you a few simple rules to keep your next bounce house party fun and safe.

We’re often faced with many decisions as parents and as a community of people who genuinely care.  While parties can be fun, we want nothing but the best and safest time for our patrons and their guests and we do everything to administer that safety. But safety is everyone’s responsibility when enjoying the use of bounce houses, slides and other inflatables. Here are some very simple and polite etiquette that will help ensure that your children and their company will bounce off into the sunset with minimum issues, keeping you safe.

1. Hand Sanitizers

2. Shoes and Socks

3. Rough Housing

4. Sharp Objects or Weapons

5. Food and Drinks

6. Sick Children

7. Children with Special Needs

8. Asthma and Breathing Conditions

over the rainbow (1)

Hand Sanitizers became popular back in the 90’s, but has become more of a common practice.  Many times you can find sanitizer dispensers when entering a hospitals or doctor’s offices.  It’s important to use this tool before and after playing in the bounce houses.  By doing this you’re taking an extra precaution to kill germs found on the hands. Make sure you have plenty of sanitizer on site when you rent a bounce house.

In most cases shoes will not be necessary, but socks are good for keeping your child from getting scraped and can also enhance the fun without sticky feet that doesn’t allow a good maneuver throughout the apparatus. Although these are relatively safe, children can get stuck in the nets or scraped by the seems so more body coverage is better.

Rough housing is expected when kids are playing in the house.  This is one time they should be allowed to play and have a good time. However, kids need to understand that they can still be injured if they don’t follow ‘safety first’.  Don’t allow bigger kids to throw smaller children inside the inflatable. This can cause things like neck and head injuries.

Sharp objects like children’s toys can sometimes be forgotten when tucked into somebody’s pocket.  Make sure the child only enters the bounce house with empty pockets and absolutely NO weapons should be allowed.

Food and drinks are usually present at carnivals and events, but this is highly prohibited inside of an inflatable.  Seems harmless but even water can cause problems when brought into these toys.  Food particles can become bacteria if caught in the seams or sides of the houses.  Even though every measure is taken to clean the houses after each use, we need to be pro-active for the safety of others.

Supervision is always a mandatory tool that is implemented at every event. Parents need to be present or a responsible adult needs to always be in sight in case of emergencies. Remember, we are always available to help with further suggestions.

Peanut Island Park & Loggers Run: Two Swell Places to Party It Up!

Two Great Places To Have a Party – Peanut Island Park & Loggers Run

If you live in Palm Beach County, and are looking for two dynamite places to throw a party, check out Peanut Island Park and Loggers Run. Both parks offer clean and spacious grounds with pavilion rentals for your convenience. Here are a few things to point out about these great locations that we think you might find helpful when planning an event.
No matter if you’re planning an outing for the whole family or the entire fifth grade, it’s always good to keep a few places in mind to throw a good party. Loggers Run is a terrific place for your gathering with a large pavilion that’s suitable for big groups. There is an assessment fee of $25.00 and you should contact their offices to find out about permits and vendors. No advertising for large parties is permitted and reservations need to be made 90 days prior to your event.
They do offer things like volleyball and tug-of-war for equipment rentals. If you plan on including this, they do require a $50 deposit. Be sure to check their website for more information on renting this type of equipment.
They do allow pets at this park, but as always you need to keep your precious pooches on leashes as a state law. Music is permitted, but you need to get this okayed with the park customer service before the event. The sound can’t travel louder than fifty feet, so keep in mind, you’ll need to be cautious with your DJ’s. Even though you can’t blast out the neighbors this is a great park and one you’ll really enjoy if you’re looking for something simple, meaning not a lot of amenities. If you’re seeking a park that offers more, check out Peanut Island.
Peanut Island is a No Alcohol park that’s located near the Intracoastal, near the Lake Worth Inlet and Riviera Beach. The beach itself offers quiet sandy locations and is close to cabana style pavilions. You can see manatee often in the water munching on grass and other plankton. If you’ve got a boat, there’s plenty of room to dock or launch.
Peanut island has designated swimming areas with lifeguard on duty during specific times between 9:15 to 4:45 pm daily. The 80-acre park is great for church functions and has the ability to service large groups. Be sure to bring food as they have no concessions, but do have first come-first serve picnic and grilling areas.
The water taxi and Captain Joe’s Peanut Island Ferry both docks in this area if you’re going to make it a smaller family or guest tour. To contact the Palm Beach Water Taxi dial 561-683-8291 and if you’d like to learn more about Captain Joe’s visit their website at www.peanutislandferry.com.
If you choose either one of these locations to be your destination make sure you let them know the folks at South Florida Bounce sent you. We’d love to hear what you think of either one of these great parks, so drop us a line.
Oh, and by the way, both parks open from sunrise to sunset. Be sure to call for reservations 561-933-6611

How to Plan an Impeccable Company BBQ with Precision

For your next get together in South Florida, give us a call whether you need a bounce house or other party supplies. We have plenty of rentals.

Call South Florida Bounce for your next event. Now on to some great BBQ planning tips.

What’s the definition of the perfect Barbecue? Well, if you ask most people you’d hear a common answer “Good Food, Good Friends = Great BBQ!” While that may be true, it’s often harder to plan such an event if it’s for the purpose of your company. There can be a little pressure if you’ve been selected at the last hour, but we’re here to offer some ‘pearls of wisdom’ with this on-target checklist.

First, consider the age group of the people that will attend. Is this open to families or just employees? Once you’ve established the age in attendance then things will be much easier to plan.

Next, you’ll want to determine and secure a location. This is something that needs to be done as soon as possible, especially if it will be at an off-site location such as a park or other area. If you plan on including a bounce house or obstacle course for the event, you’ll need to double check with the venue for space requirements but also for permission. Not every park in town allows inflatables and may require additional fees along with permits. Our staff can help you with suggested areas that we’ve been in before.

Now let’s consider the food. Many people enjoy the traditions of hamburgers and hot dogs and while this is a standard commodity at a BBQ, there are some alternatives for you to think over.

Ribs and Brisket can be costly, but there are plenty of places that offer discounts on large amounts of meat. Places like Penn Dutch has specials on party sized platters, but you can consider buying in bulk. Half a Side of Beef is plenty of meat with a lot of variety. Chicken is always a winner too!! Make sure that you hire someone or assign the role of chef griller to someone who’s experienced. BBQ grills can be tricky to maneuver and the number one rule is Safety First! You can always contact a local barbecue catering company to bring the grill to you. This will probably be one of your best plans and will allow you to enjoy the day more. Some other items to kick around would be a hot dog roller and a cotton candy machine if there’s kids joining in.

Seating can be a problem at times if you don’t remember to tell people to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. You may want to rent tables and chairs if the BBQ will be held in a parking lot or some other area that doesn’t have grass and picnic tables. A tent would also be good too for those not wanting to bask in the hot Florida sun.

Keep a first-aid kit with you at all times and make sure you have plenty of bandages and don’t forget to include sunscreen. People often forget to pack certain items that can either make or break a good party. By being the one prepared, you will look like the hero saving the day. Another good policy would be to save the park contact information if you plan your event in a place where you may be in a desolate area.

Unless you plan on sitting around and staring at each other, it will be good to count on some entertainment at the party. If there will be children present, then book a face painter or balloon artist to entertain the little ones. To make the party memorable add a photo booth for people to take more than just selfies. A good picture to have on the company Facebook would be of the gets dunked by his/her staff while sitting in one of our Dunk Tanks. This is a good way to take out your frustrations, but keep it clean.

Last cleanup. Putting together a cleanup crew ahead of time is one of the best things you can do. People generally like to be involved and if you arrange who will be helping before the party, this can be extremely beneficial and all operations will remain a GO! Don’t forget to bring extra garbage bags in the Supersize category as these always come in handy.

This concludes our quick snapshot of how to plan an awesome company barbecue and it took you no time to read. We have a sneaky suspicion that you’ll do great putting everything together and we’re always here to help if you need any advice on party rentals or bounce houses. Best wishes for a Grand Barbecue!

Since the inception of shows such as American Ninja Warrior and Wipeout, America’s been intrigued to watch people with agility and strength maneuver through the man-made obstacle courses. Before the Roman Empire introduced gladiators with swords that pounced on giant horses battling to the death in the Coliseum, we humans have enjoyed watching sports where people are severely defeated. Thank goodness today’s games have evolved and instead of jousting, we can be equally entertained by watching participants bouncing off an apparatus or climb a wall competing against the clock.

The OCR World Championships is a premier global Championship where the sport of obstacle course racing with professional athletes that compete. The next event for the OCRWC will be held at Blue

Mountain in Ontario, Canada and have a limit as to how many athletes can compete. The other interesting thing about this race is the participants must show proof that they’re able to qualify for either short or standard distance racing. One sure thing that you can rely on is that renting a bounce house obstacle course is more practical and a lot more fun than having to train and qualify just to have some action and momentum.

Looking for bounce house rentals for boys or girls birthday party? Call now and one of our courteous staff will assist you.

The obstacle course inflatables offer a lot of activity and don’t require people crashing through swamps, or crawling through miles of dirt to be enjoyable.

K2 Cliffhanger

The K2 Cliffhanger has a 33-foot Rock Climbing wall and slide that takes you into its own bounce house, giving you and your guests yards of fun and enjoyment. This obstacle course is 100 feet long making this one of the longest obstacle course in South Florida.

We A Warrior Dash comes in a quick second in length at 70 feet long the guests have plenty of room to bounce around and race to the finish line. Many of the people that rent this inflatable organize teams and make racing through this attraction a group activity.

The Typhoon has a few different configurations and is by far one of the most versatile obstacle course in Palm Beach County. This 3-piece unit is very impressive and will attract a crowd. The course itself offers slopes, a maze of detours, and slides for an incredible attraction for your guests.

If you’re looking for your own version of “Wipeout”, then check out our Wipeout Obstacle bounce house course. This is an ideal setup for indoors. The enclosed feature has plenty of room to bounce off the walls and balls positioned in the center of the inflatable. The center where the big red balls are at are intended for the player to jump from platform onto the first red ball. While they try to balance on that ball     they then leap to the next ball. The floor is constructed of soft cushion material and protects the player from getting injured if they should fall.  Check our our Wipeout Bounce House

                                                                       Wipeout

Whether you select our K2 or Wipeout, your attendee’s and the spectators will have a blast competing or just bouncing around. Remember, there are size requirements for space to set up the inflatables so it’s good to call ahead of time.

This is particularly true with inflatable attractions. It’s extremely important to take the precautions necessary to make sure that everyone has a good time without ending up in a hospital. We’ve compiled a checklist for your party planners to cover when including items like bounce houses.

Have you received a signed permission form from the parents? We would suggest that you send out a permission slip prior to the event that includes signatures from any parent or legal guardian to protect your school or organization. In the event that a tragedy happens this can keep some peace of mind.

Is there a hand washing station outside of the bounce house or even the water slide? Each one of our inflatables goes through an extensive cleaning process after each use. But the kids need to take extra care here. Offer an alcohol free hand sanitizer before and after the child enters and exits the play area. Don’t assume that they will remember to use the sanitizer. Have an assistant to help administer this safety aid. Although hand sanitizer is not guaranteed to cure any disease, it will help to lower your child’s risk of contracting some illnesses.

south florida bounce house rentalDo you have more than one attendant on site, including private parties? There should be up to 2 attendants at each bounce house or water slide location. These individuals will assist people getting in and out of the attraction. They can also be on the lookout for fights, injuries and incidents while the children are inside of the inflatable.

Is there a first aid kit nearby or on-site? A school nurse is also a smart person to have on board for any event. But in any event there should always be a first aid kit on the premises that is located in a universal area that authorized personnel can find at a given notice. A child can be stung by a bee or someone can twist an ankle and you’ll be prepared at a moment’s notice for any type of danger.

Do you have the space and land for an inflatable to be safe? In other words, you need a certain amount of space for an inflatable to be placed. Since this is more for safety and not functionality, look at the aspect of not having the bounce houses on top of sharp items, next to hard gravel (grass is best)

Is there an area that the houses can be tethered down properly? Our specialists can assist you and an assessment can be done if you’re in doubt.

Most accidents can be prevented. By taking the extra steps to prevent anything from happening your event will move along smoothly and allow more fun to be had by all.
