Interactive Bounce Houses

The term interactive bounce house is somewhat of a misnomer – the entertainments are far more than simple bounce houses typically associated with children. The amusements are considered inflatables and the following are just some of the available options available for private parties, corporate events, schools and fundraisers. Obstacle Course Inflatable obstacle courses offer a myriad of challenges. Individuals can choose options that include rope and rock climbing challenges, along with warrior and military obstacle courses Fun house and corn mazes, ninja walls and extreme challenges are available for competitive people of all ages. Warp Speed Arena The group activity is great for teen and adult party-goers and offers a unique corporate team- building experience. The interactive inflatable can be played 1-on-1 or 2 teams of 2 players. It challenges coordination, strength, endurance and hand-eye coordination. Mechanical Bull Popularized in 1980 thanks to the movie Urban Cowboy, mechanical bulls remain popular and few can resist trying to outride friends. Velcro Climbing Wall Fun for all ages, it doesn’t matter if someone takes a tumble – they land on a soft, inflatable surface that gently breaks their fall. Human Wrecking Ball A 4-person experience, players stand on an inflatable pad while dodging the “wrecking ball” swung by an opponent. It’s especially popular for high school, college and corporate events, along with large private parties. Sports Challenge The inflatable is a 3-in-1 sports lovers dream, combining soccer, basketball and football under a single roof. It can be used by 3 people at a time. Games on the Go The specially designed and equipped arcade on wheels features over 300 of the most popular video game titles to play. Wipe Out Similar to the popular game show, individuals climb their ladder and try to get from one side of the platform to the other using the large inflatable balls. The soft ball pit underneath catches anyone that falls. Waterslides One of the most popular and frequently requested interactive is a waterslide. Models are available in multiple heights, including exciting options that stand 40 ft. tall for a wild and exhilarating ride. Waterslides are offered in single and multi-lane options. Water-based entertainments are also offered for small children and toddlers.

Are Bounce Houses Safter Than Trampolines?

Parents are often in a quandary when planning entertainment for a children’s party. They want youngsters to enjoy themselves while staying safe. Two of the most popular and frequently requested amusements are a bounce house and trampoline. The next question becomes are they safe and every parent must make their own decision. Bounce House Generally speaking, a bounce house is considered safer. A bounce house is supported entirely by pressurized air and sets on the ground. Bounce houses are appropriate for youngsters age 6 to 12. Children younger than that don’t have the coordination or motor skills to keep themselves upright. The most common injuries reported from bounce house usage are fractures and muscle strains to the arms, but primarily the legs. Head and neck injuries were next in prevalence. Boys were more likely to be injured in a bounce house than girls, 53.9 percent compared to 46.1. Over a 4-year period, more than 82,700 children were injured in a bounce house There have also been about 30 bounce house-related deaths when a device was blown about by high winds or was improperly anchored. Trampoline In comparison, a trampoline is supported by a metal frame and the jumping surface is elevated above the ground. Children can be thrown off a trampoline onto the ground, into shrubbery, or into nearby structures. A specially designed net or cage for a trampoline should always enclose the equipment to prevent children from being throw off. Children age 6 and under shouldn’t use a trampoline due to their lack of motor skills. Injuries are due to colliding with another person, landing improperly, performing stunts, jumping or falling off a trampoline, and falling on the device’s springs or framework. Statistics show that the most often reported injuries were fractures – approximately 25.8 percent. Muscle strains came in second at 25.7 percent, and contusions accounted for 14.5 percent of injuries. An estimated 100,000 people are injured on trampolines each year, with 500 of those resulting in permanent neurological damage.

How to Make a Slip and Slide Slippery the Safe Way

A slip and slide is an easy way to keep children amused for hours. The entertainment can be made at home with tarps or heavy plastic. The biggest problem will be ensuring that the surface is slippery enough – water alone seldom works efficiently. The key to any entertainment is ensuring safety. Be sure to set it up away from utility lines, fences, structures, sprinkler heads and other items that can cause an injury if children slide into them. Plastic A successful slip and slide begins with choosing the best plastic for the task. Visqueen is a good choice as it’s highly durable. Select plastic that’s at least 6 mil. Water Flow Water is a critical element in a slip and slide and must flow from the top to the bottom. The device must have a steady stream of liquid available at all times to avoid dry areas that can result in friction burns. It can be helpful to place holes in an old hose and place it at points along the way to ensure saturation of the plastic. There should be good drainage to avoid turning a pristine lawn into a mud pit. Extra Lubrication A bottle of tearless baby shampoo will work wonders for ensuring a lubricated surface. Many people use dishwashing liquid, but it’s never a good idea. The soap will get in youngsters’ eyes, resulting in irritation and pain. Some have found that rubbing household wax paper over the plastic makes for a slippery surface. Other alternatives include olive oil, baby oil or vegetable oil. Just remember that oils are difficult to remove from the skin without a shower. Try to locate an environmentally- friendly lubricant. Other Considerations A responsible adult should always be available to ensure the safety of users. Don’t let another slider take their turn until the person before them has cleared the plastic. Unsupervised slip and slides can result in serious injuries if basic, common sense safety precautions aren’t observed.

Outdoor Fun with Inflatables

The use of outdoor inflatables is an increasingly popular option as an affordable way to inject an extra level of fun into special events. The selection is truly amazing and there are inflatables to accommodate every age group and fitness level.

Water Slides

It’s no surprise that in South Florida, one of the most popular outdoor inflatables is a water slide. They can be used as a stand-alone entertainment and some models can be arranged to deposit merry-makers directly into a swimming pool. Dry slides are also offered and both styles are available in a wide range of heights with single or double lanes.

Bounce House

It’s easy to make any play date or party for children 12 and younger more exciting with a bounce house. They’re available in multiple designs to accommodate a wide range of party themes and interests.

Surf, Skate, Snowboard

For those that want to try their hand at surfing without going in the ocean, inflatable robo surfer games are available. They provide real wave action on a small scale for the backyard. They’re also offered for snowboarding and skateboarding.

Lawn Games

Inflatables bring all the fun of life-size board games to the backyard, but the good times don’t end there. Individuals can also choose from inflatable versions of golf, “hamster” balls, human foosball, billiards, jousting matches, sumo wrestling, and mazes. For businesses, schools, churches, and other organizations that want to create the appeal of a carnival, there are options for game booths and mechanical rides with an inflatable element such as bungee trampolines.

Obstacle Course

Those that are more interested in competitive endeavors can select from a wide variety of inflatable obstacle courses. Depending on the model, they can incorporate slides, tunnels, barriers and bars, along with rock climbs, pop-ups, and squeeze-through challenges. Some are one lane, while others feature side-by-side action for double the fun.

Kids Love Inflatables

There’s something inherently appealing about inflatables and they’re a must-have at any kid’s party. There are dozens of reasons to throw a children’s party, from birthdays to holiday celebrations. No matter what the occasion, there are inflatables to support interests and themes encompassing water parks to carnivals.

Inflatable Slides

Kids love to slide and both dry and water slides are available in multiple heights for age appropriate fun. Some can even be set up to deposit sliders into a backyard swimming pool for older kids. Inflatables have the advantage of being equally applicable for parties at home, schools, churches, and neighborhood block parties.

Bounce House

A bounce house is essential for any gathering that involves children. They’ve been entertaining kids for decades and are visually appealing with their bright colors and larger-than-life appearance. Bounce houses provide an environment that fosters imagination and kids can spend hours pretending they’re anyone from a pirate riding the high seas to an astronaut walking on the moon.

Inflatable Games

Inflatables encompass much more than slides and bounce houses. One of the most popular is inflatable obstacle courses. Inflatables run the gamut from rock climbing walls and corn mazes to sumo arenas, and jousting contests. Inflatable dart boards are available for foot darts, whack a mole, the basketball version of Connect Four, carnival game booths, and skee ball. For older youngsters, there are Wild West themed inflatable ax throwing games utilizing specially designed ax pieces with VELCRO® brand fasteners to adhere to the target. Parents can choose 9-hole mini golf inflatables and those that incorporate giant hamster balls. Kids can kick and throw with inflatable football challenges, compete in interactive space arenas, and dance in a disco dome. Inflatables make it easy to hold a party for kids of any age and keep them entertained for hours. The wide range of inflatable games, bounce houses and slides ensure there’s something to appeal to every age and interest.

Ways for Grandparents to Connect with Grandchildren

Sometimes the generation gap can seem insurmountable for grandparents, especially if their grandchildren are tweens or teens. It’s much easier to find activities to share with youngsters when they’re young, but a loving connection is essential at any age. Grandparents can have a profound influence on their grandchildren and for those that may not know where to begin, the following are some great ways to start.

One-on-One Time

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with spending the day or engaging in an activity with just one of your grandchildren at a time instead of doing something as a group. They each have different interests that you can share and nurture. Just do the same for each one.

Activities and Hobbies

It’s never too early for children to discover new interests. It could be anything from collecting seashells or knitting to biking and horseback riding. If a grandchild is already passionate about a sport or activity, watch TV or movies about it with them, or try it with them.

Be Silly, Have Fun

A sense of humor and the ability to laugh at oneself are some of the greatest gifts you can bestow upon your grandchildren. If you like to sing or dance, do it with wild abandon. Let them see your own sense of humor shine through and teach by example – don’t be afraid to try new things.

Be Practical

There are dozens of practical things with which you can help your grandchildren. Essential things you learned as a child are often not taught or learned anymore, but they still have practical applications. Being able to make change without electronic means, create a budget, cook a meal or change a tire are just some examples.

Be Yourself

There’s been way too much hype about being the “cool” grandma or grandpa. Children know when adults are faking. Grandchildren want to see the real you, know that they’re important to you, and that you love them. Spending time with them enables you to be a major part of their life, pass on some of your knowledge and experience, and learn new things from them.

Spring Training Fun in South Florida

Spring training is a series of practices and exhibition games preceding the start of the regular season. This important training period allows new players to try out for roster and position spots and gives established players practice time prior to competitive play. Spring training is also a great time for fans to watch their favorite teams warm up for the season, especially as so many national teams and players choose to practice right here in the Sunshine State.  Folks come from all around the country to see their heroes play, and there are some awesome practice grounds and programs for tourist and locals to enjoy.

JetBlue Park in Fort Myers

Boston Red Sox

JetBlue Park in Fort Myers is the Red Sox spring-training stadium.  The stadium is just like a smaller version of the Red Sox’ very own Fenway Park and just a long fly ball away from the airport. Unlike beautiful Boston, we have the sunshine all year round, meaning that hardened Red Sox fans are always more than happy to travel south for their annual spring pilgrimage.

Minnesota Twins

Just 10 minutes down the road from the Twins regular home at Hammond Stadium, Fort Myers training ground is super easy to access for Twins fans from around the state and the country.  Miles and miles away from the madness of Orlando and Miami, ball fans can spend the day watching their team, then take in the stunning sites and secluded beaches of the Gulf Coast.

Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter

St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals have played their spring-training games in six Florida cities since 1914, and this year they will host 15 games at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium starting February 24, 2019. Situated deep within the Abacoa Community, your visit to Jupiter will be all about ballgames, beaches and beautiful weather.

Miami Marlins

Surrounded by vast natural areas and built around the mouth of the Loxahatchee River, Jupiter is the Marlins’ home-away-from-home about an hour and a half north of Miami.  Based at the Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium, which they share with the Cardinals, they will be hosting a number of games starting from February 24, 2019.

First Data Field in Port St Lucie

New York Mets

As one of the biggest names in Baseball, it is no surprise that the Mets demand some of the very best training facilities in the country.  First Data Field is home to the New York Mets Spring Training, the St. Lucie Mets Minor League Team and all the New York Mets Minor League operations.  If you are lucky enough to score tickets to watch your favorite team train down here, you will also be just a couple of hours away from Orlando and minutes away from Hutchinson Island beaches and the PGA Village, giving you the perfect all-around Florida experience.

FITTEAM Ballpark in West Palm Beach

Houston Astros

The Astros originally played their Florida spring-training games in Cocoa Beach, located in the shadow of the Cape Canaveral spaceport before relocating to West Palm Beach for the 2017 season. The FITTEAM Ballpark is a 160-acre complex featuring a large playground, splash park, four lighted basketball courts and a 1.8-mile walking trail that will keep you entertained for hours, and that’s before you’ve even headed out to explore the rest of what West Palm Beach has to offer.

Washington Nationals

The Washington Nationals are always thrilled to invite their fans to come see them here at FITTEAM, the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches! It may be warmer than Washington down south, but fans will find shade, a 360-degree concourse, the Banana Boat Lawn, suites and party decks in which to enjoy an all-encompassing Spring Training experience.

Fun Food Machines – A Great Addition to Your Party

Fresh popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones and hot dogs are all a part and parcel of a great kids birthday party.  If you are organizing a birthday party for your little people, add a little old-fashioned fun with a food machine that offers the same great tasting treats that we enjoyed when we were little. You may serve up pizzas, burgers or sandwiches as the main meal, but it will be the naughty but nice food machines that the kids will really love.  As a special treat, let your inner child shine and treat your kids to an old-fashioned food machine for their special party.

Snow Cone Machine

Shaved ice treats are perfect in the hot Florida sunshine, and make an easy addition to any party.  Snow cone machines serve up shaved ice desserts that are topped with flavored sugar syrup, making them cool, refreshing and utterly delicious. Simply supply your own ice and you can enjoy up to sixty servings, made with 4 delicious servings at your kids’ birthday party.

Popcorn Machine

Popcorn is a great snack any time of day.  Popcorn machines heat up raw popcorn kernels to make delicious hot popcorn that can be covered in salt, sugar or butter for a super fresh treat that goes perfectly with friends and a movie.

Cotton Candy

Roll up, roll up for all the fun of the fair with a cotton candy machine for your kids to enjoy.  By first heating sugar until it becomes a liquid, then spinning the liquid as it cools, a cotton candy machine creates cloud-like threads of candy that form together to create a sweet, sticky treat that everybody loves to eat.

Hotdog Roller

Evoke the spirit of an old-fashioned movie theatre with a traditional hot dog roller.  Watch those dogs spin and turn as the children play, then grab a dog and a bun when they are ready to ear. Our classic roller grill will hold 24 mouthwatering hot dogs, brats, or breakfast sausages.

Hotdog Steamer

Cook your dogs in less than 20 minutes and keep them warm and fresh until they are ready to be enjoyed.  These machines are a great way to fill hungry bellies, with warm buns and freshly cooked dogs.  Great fun for all the family.
