Tips for A Back to School Party

If you or someone you know has been selected to throw this year’s back to school party then this blog is for you! Seems many of the teachers and school administrators are looking for ways to make their back to school parties a hit. Of course we know that the main goal here is to get our children interested in coming back to school once summer is over. So what better way to do it than with an awesome party that will energize grades K-12? Let’s get started:

First, we want to say that safety is paramount to everything we do, and so should you. Be sure the parents have filled out all forms necessary if you’ll be incorporating bounce houses, waterslides or obstacle courses. Keep these in a locked file and don’t hesitate to make this a priority.

Next: Decorate according to the location of the party. Outdoor themes should have plenty of balloons and Streamers, sidewalk chalk is also another great item to have on board.

Don’t forget the Sanitizer: Keep plenty of jugs of sanitizer on board to lower the spread of germs.

Food: Whether you have it catered or your school is supplying, there’s nothing better than items you can eat quickly with your hands. An old standby like hot dogs, hamburgers and even pizza are amongst the favorites with the younger crowds. Don’t forget something sweet such as sno-cones or caramel apples that are great this time of year in Southern Florida.

Remind everyone to wear appropriate clothing to ensure they’re protected from the sun and are comfortable.

The first sign of rain, take shelter immediately. Again, safety is key here.

Organize an interactive game, such as a scavenger hunt. Have groups found items around the school or event area. Make sure a head count is done before and after for accountability.

Don’t stress out. Do meditation, book a massage or just take some quiet time either before the event or after allowing yourself time to unwind. The party should reflect how happy you are to have the kids back and telling them learning is fun as well as important.

Games are the one of the most important elements to any kid party. However, kids in the older age groups such as 13+ do well with our obstacle courses and competing games. Contact us for information on what works best for your event.

Throwing the Ultimate Block Party

It’s that time of year again in South Florida where everyone is starting to plan their fall and winter parties. More parties happen this time of year since our weather has become cooler and not as humid. One party that everyone looks forward to annually is their neighborhood block party. If you’ve been selected or have volunteered to be on the planning board, then we’ve got some helpful tips for you that will make your block party into a ‘Block-Buster Party’!!! Read on!

  •  Meet with the neighbors
  • Get a permit from the city or township
  •  Book Inflatable Rentals
  •  Plan food and activities
  •  Send invitations to the neighbors
  •  Create a Map showing who is participating and what each neighbor is hosting

Meeting with the neighbors as a planning committee is imperative to the success of your party. Select someone as the chairman and then have everyone assigned tasks. The chairman should be coordinated with everyone and be there in case the ball gets dropped.

Next, you’ll need to get a permit for your party. This is especially true when you’re blocking off streets. This is another important step to planning a great party that won’t get shut down by the feds later.

Contact South Florida Bounce for your rentals such as bounce houses or water slides. The sooner the reservation is made, you’ll be ensured on us being present for your party.

Now that you’ve got the most important steps out of the way, plan food and activities. If you’re having games such as balloon toss or a face painting station, make the correct arrangements and include the activities and times on your map. Food is another thing that will need some attention to detail. Keep it simple, unless you’re looking to impress the Joneses.

Send out invitations including the map made that shows all the neighbors who are participating, the activities and food and the times.

You can create really cool maps to include in your invitation. Use Google Maps or Google Earth Pro (now free) to create a template of the neighborhood. Google Earth allows you to add graphics that will make it exciting. Nonetheless, you want to have a visual so people will get excited.

Now that we’ve given you the tools to keep you organized, there’s only one thing left to do. Go have fun at your neighborhood block party!

Labor Day Party Nightmares

Labor Day will soon be upon us and like many of you I’m sure you’re scrambling to get those last minute details done before guests show up at your house. We’ve all heard about the pressure of putting together a memorable party, the only tough part, is when the caterer doesn’t show up or the cake gets ordered and sent to the wrong house. Yes, it happens and these stories should be a bit ‘nerve’ relieving. Take a look at some of the stories our readers have shared with us over the years.

It seems that everyone has one of those parties where there’s a ton going on and none of it seems to be smooth. Things getting spilled, people showing up hours late, or whatever the case may be. Don’t you feel a sense of happiness when you find out that even the most perfect person, has a bad day or two?

Jennifer, Coconut Creek: Gwen and Chad were throwing their first Labor Day party since they had gotten married. Everything was special and all was going great until Chad’s stern Grandma, who they called “The Iron Lady” asked Gwen’s 9-year-old son for a light. The youngster quickly ran into the house and grabbed a candle from inside. Once he presented the candle to the elderly woman she took one look at the candle and began to laugh. Puzzled the boy looked at the grandmother and asked “Mam, why are you laughing at me?” The woman stopped laughing and immediately replied “Because I wanted a can of Light Beer, not a Candlelight!”

Gloria Henderson, Margate: Jill was excited to have everyone over, but her mother had been exhausting just to watch while getting ready for their Labor Day/End of Summer Party. Since it was also Jill’s birthday that weekend, she asked her mother to make her no-bake chocolate oatmeal cookies for her and her friends. While Jill’s mom was vacuuming she asked Jill to pre-heat the oven to 350°. Jill was curious what else her mother needed to make after she had already gotten everything ready so she decided to ask why her mom wanted the oven turned on. “We need to preheat the oven for your cookies sweetheart” her mother had remarked. “But I asked for No-Bake cookies. What the…?”

Jim P., Parkland: The kids and I were sitting out back when they asked who I invited from my work to our Labor Day party. When I told them my boss and his son they all shrieked in horror, “Oh No, Dad, Not Mr. Vernon’s kid, he pees in our pool” It was seconds after the kids were as white as a ghost, when they realized MR. Vernon, my boss and CEO of the company was standing right behind me. The first thing is kid did. He peed in our pool.

Of course, these are just a few of the stories we hope to make you feel better. At least you know we’re all human. Enjoy your week.

Playlist for Your Halloween Party

halloween-2

Of course we’ve heard of the classic songs that kept us all be-bopping to the music a gazillion years ago. But, do the kids know who sings the “The Monster Mash”? They will still enjoy these vintage songs most likely but kids are more prone to love what’s hot and trending. Here’s a list of great tunes that you can play at your next kid-friendly Halloween Party that will ‘smash the Monster Mash’!

  1. “Thriller” by Michael Jackson never gets old
  2. Beyonce’s “Haunted” and who doesn’t love the Queen B?
  3. Sharon Needles and Rupaul “This Club is a Haunted House”

  5. No Doubt that Lady Gaga better be on that list with “Monster”
  6. “This is Halloween” by Danny Elfman which was a part of the Nightmare Before Christmas
  7. “Creep” by Radiohead has been redone by several artists. Try the original or look for a remake of epic proportions.
  8. “Superstition” by the Good Ole’ Stevie Wonder is still the jam!
  9. “Time Warp” from the Rocky Horror Picture Show is always a great tune, don’t let the kids watch the movie.
  10. The Scooby Doo soundtrack continues to crack my kids up every year.
  11. “Somebody’s Watching Me” by Freak on a Leash
  12. “Harry Potter Prologue” by Silly Slinky

  14. “Highway to Hell” by ACDC
  15. Don’t forget to get “Halloween Sounds” this is a ‘Must Have’.

For CD’s that you can play rather than finding and putting together your own playlist check out “Now That’s What I Call Halloween” and “The Best of Halloween” these both have various artists that will keep you party jumpin all day or night.

For kid-friendly movies check these out:

  • Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory with Gene Wilder (the original)

TV’s Influence on Bounce Houses

Shows such as Wipeout and American Ninja Warrior have stolen the hearts of both athletes and enthusiasts throughout the country. Long after shows like these are gone, another form of competing will appear. These shows have great influence on the inflatable rental business since so many people love the obstacle course themes. Not only are these a great way to entertain your guests, they’re an excellent resource for aerobics and cardio activity making them the ideal athletic pastime. Take a look at this blog to learn more.
The physical and mental limits are tested on shows such as Spartan Race where the contestants test their agility by participating in this intense obstacle course. They even have a kids race where children compete to finish the race. The kids set goals and then perform by running, jumping and crawling through mud. Sounds like every day, huh? The Spartan Race is a great way for kids to get into shape and gain self-esteem.
Don’t flip through the channels too fast, or you might miss it! OCR.tv is a new site that offers several obstacle course races for you to become familiar. Err on caution as they take obstacle courses seriously on this site. Man-made waterslides, rope climbing and plenty of crawling is what you’ll catch as these mega-athletes compete.
“Wipeout” stole the hearts of the nation when it was first introduced in 2008. Since its inception people have been entertained by watching people dodge giant orbs balls and running all kinds of challenging courses. Our Wipeout Bounce Course offers a similar challenge. The ABC show is undoubtedly missed since its completion in 2014.
Of course, NBC got on board with American Ninja Warrior which proves to be a big hit today. The sports entertainment business continues to delight viewers in South Florida across the US. A spin off of the Japanese show “Sasuke”, this is show where athletes of all types compete to complete the many challenges of the obstacle course to the finish line.
With all the craze going on with these shows it’s pretty safe to assume we enjoy watching the obstacle course activity. The other point to make is that these courses are for strengthening and showing ones’ agility. No matter what the age, or the athletic level this type of sports entertainment is for certain, we love to watch.

The Ultimate Summer Carnival

Before summer is over, there’s plenty of time to facilitate a great summer carnival for your church, little league or any other organization. We’ve got some incredible inflatables for rent to turn that carnival into a South Florida Bounce carnival they’ll never forget. Check out the tips, here!
Besides the traditional bounce houses that everyone rents, why not start out with a mega-waterslide or an obstacle course that will give your attendees a real thrill? We’ve got the biggest selection in all of South Florida and renting with us is done with a no-hassle theory.
A few other attractions to consider is our rock climbing wall, trackless train and the corn toss. All of which are excellent ways to entertain guests and keep the party rocking.
No party would be complete without having a picture. Include a photo booth or selfie booth, just like you find at Coney Island. People love these and you will have a lot of fun, exchanging the photos.
If you’re having a fundraiser or some other little league event, why not book our Home Run Challenge, Basketball Hoop or Large Soccer Goal? This is a great feature at any carnival, where you could include game prizes for those with a high score. Don’t forget to make a trip to the Dollar Store for some inexpensive give-a-ways.
Are you doing some type of team activities? We’ve got the perfect water balloon toss. Our Water Balloon Wars inflatable will help to keep your participants covered while wizzing water balloons at one another. This is important to protect people from the hot rays of the SoFlo sun.
We’ve got several dunk tanks for your party. These are perfect for school and church events. The only thing these don’t come with ice water and the person that’s the target.
Want to see the ultimate fight? Rent our Gladiator Joust for a bit of excitement. Two opposing players will stand on opposite podiums surrounded by an inflatable bounce platform, that gives a safe landing and then watch the two try to knock each other till the other falls off.
Don’t forget, we rent out Hot Dog rollers, Cotton Candy Makers, tables and chairs to make your event complete. Many of our organizations that have used our products and services in the past use raffle tickets for their carnivals. We’ve got everything you need or we know who does. Be sure to give us all your festival details so we can make suggestions.
No matter if you’re looking for a day or a week, we can help make your carnival or fundraiser it’s biggest success to date.

How a Waterslide Can Help Burn Calories?

In a recent article written for the Lehigh Valley news located in New Jersey, reported a high-end fitness club with plans on incorporating a waterslide. Why would a wellness center include a waterslide? The question should be, why wouldn’t it?

volcanoWaterparks across the country aren’t necessarily ideal for kids. Adults can benefit from these types of physical theme parks as well. After all, spending a day swimming, and climbing and even sliding down a waterslide can lend to some serious calorie burning activity. One person claims to have burned over 1,056 calories from a full day spent at a waterpark in Portugal.

Waterparks and waterslides in general help to tone all the major muscle groups. This exercise targets ABS and helps to improve cardio fitness, balance and stamina. Just 20 minutes of bouncing up and down, then climbing stairs and sliding back down can burn almost 400 calories.

*The Title Boxing Club recently wrote a blog claiming that waterparks are an ideal way to lose weight. They also made remarks that performing the same activities on dry land isn’t as effective as it is underwater.

For children that tend to be a bit on the heavier side, can really benefit from a day of waterslide fun. While they’re playing and hanging out with their friends, they don’t even notice they’re staying active and becoming more in shape.

Although Fitbit Trackers are not entirely water resistant, you could track with waterslides where you aren’t fully submerged in the water. The waterslides you find at events, such as kids birthday parties aren’t going to cause damage as long as you have one like the Fitbit Surge which is meant for water.

Swimming in general can allow up to 413 calories to be burned in one hour. This is of course with someone who is around 130 lbs. or lighter. The heavier the weight is; the less calories are burned. Swimming is one of the best forms of exercise since it’s easy on the joints, low impact and much cooler than running in the hot Florida sun.

We found a good swimming calculator to help determine how many cals you are burning while swimming. Since waterslides aren’t quite the same, this calculator will be off. Add about another 20 calories for running, climbing stairs, treading water and then kicking legs, or any other movement you do when going up and down the waterslide.

With all this information, one can only assume that waterside activities are aerobic and will help you lose weight. We’d like to hear from you, if you found it a bit of a workout when you rented one of the inflatables. Drop us a line and tell us how many calories you burned while having some South Florida Bounce Fun!

South Florida Bounce House Safety First

Everyone’s safety is always at the forefront at any event involving our rentals. It is our top priority that every one of your guests leaves with a smile on their face, because they had a great time. While we do our best to conduct a professional business, we also want our clients to know that we need to work together as a team to ensure everyone’s safety. This blog highlights some of the more obvious concerns that people will have and how you can be a happy and satisfied patron.

With every rental and attendant will stay present during your event. That attendant will need to enforce that all the guests remember to follow bounce house rules. Roughhousing, fighting and other aggressive activity is tolerated. However, each person that participates is encouraged to use the bounce house as it is intended.

Proper clothing is necessary at all times. Shoes are not permitted to be worn on any of the water slides, obstacle courses or bounce houses. This is primarily to prevent injuries from shoes. Wearing the proper gear will keep kids from unnecessarily being injured.

When you live in a place like South Florida, you can be subjected to increment weather at a moment’s notice.  In some cases, it may be necessary to reschedule the event.  However, if elements such as lightning, hail or tornadoes are likely to be present the attendants will make the call to shut down the rental to keep everyone from being in the wrath of ‘Mother Nature’. Be sure to check the weather prior to the event to have extra insight.

Germs are always present when at the mercy of the public.  Try to keep your children home if they aren’t feeling a 100%.  We know they may not want to miss the party, but it’s better than having them spreading illness among everyone at the party.  Keep in mind that South Florida Bounce goes through an extensive deep-cleaning after every rental. But, this isn’t going to keep your children from breathing.  It’s better to keep them home.

Parental supervision is a must! We can’t stress this enough. If a parent can’t be present while their child is playing, then have them assign another adult over the age of 18 to be in charge.  It’s also a good policy to have the parent give consent by signing a permission slip giving the adult in charge the responsibility.

The higher your safety sense is, the more your guests will have fun.  Don’t forget these are a few of the obvious tips on how to stay safe.  For more information, contact our reps that have the answers.

We look forward to this 2016 summer season and spending it with zero accidents from everyone.

South Florida Team Building for Little League

The foundation work for many individuals begins during Little League sports. Like many of us in the work force we must be involved in some type of teamwork with other employees for us to be productive. As parents were able to foster the skills necessary for our children to become successful. Many of life’s lessons may come from joining some type of athletic activity. What we couldn’t agree with that more. Here are some team bonding activities that you can expect will take place when introducing obstacle courses as a team event.

By hosting a team bonding event you are encouraging your players to work as a collaborative theme. Fun activities allow the members to see things differently although seeking the same goal. Whether the team wins or loses is not the end result. However, the types of activities you should encourage would be motivation, communication, planning problem-solving and resolving conflicts.

Socializing and making new friends allows people to be more productive in an office setting. While that may be true, this can also be valuable during Little League competitiveness.

Competing against each other as a team rather than an individual will help the players bond.

Other than bonding with one another each team player can be encouraged to come up with innovative and creative solutions so that their team is closer to crossing the finish line.

Just as the coach has an assistant to help him when needed, teambuilding activities also allows a collaboration and a chance to become comfortable working together.

Several of our obstacle courses can be set up in a parking lot or on a field. Inflatable such as our Cliffhanger includes a 33-foot-tall rock climb slide, tubes to crawl through and enclosed space. These features make it ideal for relay races and several other challenging activities.

Our Warrior – Dash includes a 27-foot rock climb slide and is 100 feet long with plenty of obstacles to make it a challenge.

Taken from the popular show “Wipeout” this inflatable has giant orb balls is enclosed and has lots of soft matting which requires arduous activity. Because this obstacle course is made with soft but pliable material, children are safe to climb and bounce to their hearts content.

No matter which of our obstacle courses you rent the bottom line is the group will be learning some invaluable skills that they will have for a long time to come.

By making reservations and hosting an obstacle course event, your team will not only have fun but will learn valuable lessons that they will carry on for life.
